Top 3 Easy Mindfulness Activities | How To Stay Mindful With Work

Mindfulness has been a focus at RGifts since the beginning. Our CEO Rhys practices different mindfulness exercises regularly, and encourages the RGifts staff to do the same! However, we understand that beginning this journey can seem quite daunting. So, to help with this, we have created a top 3 easy mindfulness activities list to help you (or your company) start a mindful journey.

Why Is Mindfulness Important?

Many of us are constantly experiencing a busy and somewhat stressful world. Either at work or home! Though, exploring mindful activities is an ideal way to deal with this. Simply put, mindfulness is the practice of being present within that very moment so that you become completely aware of yourself and your surroundings. This form of meditative practice has been found to reduce stress and increase overall happiness in day to day life!

Top 3 Easy Mindfulness Tasks For Beginners
  1. Try a mindfulness-focused app
Mindfulness apps are an ideal way to build this practice into your daily routine easily and effectively and are an incredibly accessible way to learn about meditation practice if you are a beginner.
Headspace, for example, is an app that specialises in helping you train your mind and body for a healthier and happier lifestyle! There’s both a free and paid version too, so you can try it out before you decide it’s for you! If you’re not interested in downloading a separate app, and you already have a Spotify account, there are some interesting practices and medications available there too!
  2. Mindfulness colouring
Are you artistically inclined? Then mindfulness colouring may be the exact thing you need to get into this new way of thinking! Amazingly, the great thing about this specific activity is that you can use any type of colouring activity book. (No need to buy specific mindfulness colouring sheets)! So if you’re on a budget, it doesn’t particularly matter how much you’re able to spend. Also, if you have children, mindfulness art is a great activity to do together as it can help encourage them to bring your attention to their thoughts and feelings!
  3. Body scan
Lastly, the body scan activity is one of the easiest and most popular mindful activities! Simply put, it offers the chance to just scan your body! Starting from the top of your head down to your toes so you check in on how you’re physically feeling today.
Body scans can be great either during a busy and stressful day or even at night when you’re unable to sleep! It has been found to be great for analysing any specific physical sensation and dealing with stress and anxiety.

To complete a body scan, follow these steps:
    – Close your eyes
    – Take a deep breath
    – Start at the top of your head. And just scan down your body.
    – Relax your jaw
    – Release your shoulders
    – Straighten your back
    – Feel your hands & fingers
    – Notice your feet against the floor

Mindfulness can be an incredibly powerful tool when handling difficult or stressful situations. Every few weeks, our staff attend a specially curated online mindful exploration session with Clare McRobbie. These sessions have resulted in several staff members having shared that our being mindful initiative has helped them greatly with their productivity and stress levels at work and home! Utilising online sessions means there’s no need to start googling ‘mindfulness courses near me’, and that you have a lot more options available! If you’re looking for regular mindfulness sessions, or a specific time-based course, Clare can accommodate this!
